i grew up on a farm bordering two rivers, use to catch them all the time. got bit by a copper head thanksgiving 78 (copperhead blood poison) Rattler, cotton mouth, and corral snake nerve poison) Had horse went right in a nest in the water and laid down they left the horse alone and chased me out of the water and on LAND FOR A WHILE, as I said caught copper heads, rattlers, and cotton mouths as a kid. nothing ever scared me as ;much as a cotton mouth, had one once I was trying to catch while going to get the milk cows in the bottoms rolled up and struck and rolled up again while still in the air Now they can strike their full how long they are in one strike so when they roll back up in the air they are landing and already striking again as soon as they hit the ground. that snake almost got me. after three times of that I was done with that shit it was too close never messed with cotton mouth again. Yeah they not only chase you out of the water they will keep on coming after you for fifty feet or so. we get someone killed in a boat fishing now and then when they drop out of a tree into a boat running people out of the boat with in the water they didn't see while fishing Not uncommon in Mo. and Ark.

There's something cool about an Australian narrating a video about a snake from the Southern USA. Also, we called these snakes "water moccasins" when I was growing up in Mississippi. Literally nobody said "cottonmouth". They were the most feared and talked about snake. A classmate of mine was bitten by one.
